Layla Gijsen graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and is an Amsterdam based conceptual artist and designer as well as a graphic designer, illustrator and analog printmaker.
The distinctive two-dimensional language she developed over the years by printmaking immediately translates back into her tree-dimensional design and art pieces. In her work, Layla draws inspiration from the playfulness and creativity that she experiences in the underground scene of Amsterdam. As a young and innovative maker, she keeps finding new ways to create a meeting point between conceptual art and social design while making usable, playful and fun art objects.
